- Please check the levelness of the floor surface. If the surface is severely uneven, lifting may occur after bonding.
- It is standard practice to order an allowance of about 5 to 10 percent of the total area to account for cutting losses in door frames or corners.
- When constructing during the winter, materials must be stored at room temperature for at least 24 hours to acclimate them and prevent future shrinkage.
- You must check if the floor is heated and use adhesive specifically designed for underfloor heating deco tiles to prevent odors and deformation.
- If the existing flooring is deco tile, overlay installation is possible, but overlaying on vinyl flooring is not recommended as it can cause mold.

Flooring Quantity Calculation Formula
First, determine the required width for filling the floor, then calculate the total length.
Total required length
Required width
Since vinyl flooring is installed by overlapping the seams, the calculation is based on the effective width, which is the actual width minus the overlap length.
Detailed Guide to Calculator Input Items
Please check the room dimensions and construction method for an accurate estimate.
1. Floor width and length
Enter the actual width and length of the floor to be installed. It is generally common to install it vertically so that the grain appears longer when viewed from a door.
2. Vinyl flooring width and overlap installation
Household vinyl flooring is typically 1.8m (1800mm] wide. Please enter a seam overlap length of approximately 20~30mm for Monoleum and 50~100mm for PET flooring.
3. Surcharge rate and surplus
For wall finishing, add approximately 100mm (10cm] of length per width, and we recommend a 5~10% markup to account for cutting loss or the levelness of the wall.
Features and Recommended Uses of Vinyl Flooring by Thickness
Expert Know-how and Checklists
These are the practical on-site points that determine the quality of the flooring finish.
-
Pattern custom loss
For tiles or wood-grain vinyl flooring, the seam patterns must be aligned for a natural look. Since waste occurs due to repeating patterns, please allow for a generous markup rate.
-
Fold-up vs. Base trim
If you finish by raising it 3 to 5 cm up the wall, no additional materials are required, but if you cut it to fit the edge of the wall and finish it with sticker-type baseboards or molding, it gives a much cleaner look.
-
The difference between linoleum and PET flooring
Monoleum is installed by cutting the seams with a knife and bonding them with a fusion agent so that the seams are almost invisible, whereas PET flooring is a low-cost material that is simply laid on top of each other.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ]
- Q. Can I lay the remaining linoleum pieces horizontally during installation?
- A. It is possible, but not recommended. Due to the manufacturing grain of vinyl flooring, twisting and fitting scraps may result in color variations or an awkward pattern depending on light reflection.
- Q. Is it okay to install new flooring over the existing linoleum?
- A. If the existing flooring is flat and free of moisture, overlaying is possible. In fact, overlaying can improve walking comfort, but if there is mold on the existing flooring, be sure to remove it before installation.
- Q. What precautions should be taken when installing vinyl flooring during the winter?
- A. In cold weather, vinyl flooring hardens and is prone to cracking. To prevent tearing or breakage, you must raise the indoor temperature before installation to sufficiently soften the flooring.
